Let me tell you a bit more about myself
I started Henry Roberts Marketing at the dining room table during the global pandemic. Juggling home schooling and client work, it was an interesting time and one I’m incredibly proud of. But it didn’t start there! Our timeline of events has more twists and turns than I care to share but without that I wouldn’t be where I am nor would I understand what’s important to you and your business.
I hope you enjoy my trip down memory lane and learning a little bit more about me and mine. Let’s be honest, how can we become partners if you don’t know anything about me?

Yep, we’re starting this far back! I had just left the Fashion Retail Academy and my tutor told me I’d never end up in fashion marketing because it’s too competitive. So I left as a Visual Merchandiser for UK retailer New Look. WOW what a life lesson that was. It definitely taught me dedication & heaps of creativity. Weirdly I also had to learn to back myself at this point, which at 18 was very hard.

Never one to listen to what people tell me. I got my first job in Digital Marketing. At this point I was 21, pregnant and just started my dream career full time. But I held on and I was determined to make it work. So with only 12 weeks maternity leave, I was back at work full time learning everything there was to know about the digital world. I covered everything from Email, SEO and then finally settled with Google Ads.

Life threw some curveballs and I moved to a new area and new agency with me, a toddler and a 6 month baby. This is where I became a Paid Ad specialist. I had bigger clients, bigger budgets and far more tears because there was more pressure. But I got into the swing of everything and it really was the making of me as a person and digital marketer.

It was time to get back into the fashion industry. I loved marketing but I missed being creative and being around clothes. So I left my full time very secure job to go freelance as a Fashion Stylist. As I write this I can see how crazy that sounds. Hopefully by this point you can see I’m a bit of a risk taker and will never and I mean EVER give up on the end goal!

This was the year I had to get very creative with my social media clients. From hair dressing competitions at home to collaborating with local artists as part of mental health awareness.
I would call this year the year of Henry Roberts Marketing survival. Home schooling, losing clients, gaining clients and not knowing what on earth was going on was enough for me.

At this point I stopped playing at business and focused. I realised I was really good at marketing and styling so I can do both now that the world has reopened.
My intial plan was to work with family owned businesses, which is why I used the name Henry & Robert. But I remembered that time my tutor said I couldn’t do something. So I wanted to prove her wrong. I reached my goal, I was finally a fashion marketer.

What a journey it has been to get to this point. There are so many things I am proud of with this business. Of course there have been lots of lessons. But right now, I have a list of dream clients, the business has moved from the toddler to child phase and I am falling in love with it more and more each day.
Partnering with other businesses will never get old. As my mentor said, marketing is creativity + maths and in my world it’s the perfect combination.
My experience on set with retailers such as Russell & Bromley, M&S & New Balance means I understand how larger corporations work behind the scenes, reaching their ideal audience. Meanwhile my agency roots mean I have experience with a variety of marketing budgets and challenges.
I can’t wait to see what the next 15 years hold. Want to know the next goal? Be as loyal, creative and dedicated as my granddads to every business who walks my path.
